Our Projects

The Lynette and Peter Zwane foundation sought to partner with the NSFAS which resorts under Department of Higher Education and Training to reach out to students in the deep rural areas who have always missed an opportunity to apply for NSFAS. This is one of the pilot projects under education that the foundation has used to ensure that we achieve our objective not only of facilitating funding but also of making a follow through regarding students who would be recipients of NSFAS when they reach Higher Education institutions.
The National Development Plan (NDP) on education aims to reform the delivery of education to cater for the developmental needs of the youth, starting from their formative years right through their coming of age. Universal access to education therefore is paramount in order to achieve not only the objectives of the NDP but also the overall objectives of South Africa’s developmental agenda in relation to alleviation of poverty, unemployment, disease and crime.

It is therefore against this backdrop that Lynette and Peter Zwane foundation partnered with NSFAS, UGu youth Development Office as well as the Department of Education in conducting outreach projects in order to disseminate information about NSFAS and also assisting students with the actual NSFAS application process.
It is a known fact that rural municipalities are lagging behind in accessing basic services including access to information and as result they will have a high prevalence of underdevelopment including poverty and unemployment. Students usually fall victim to Internet Café owners who charge them exorbitant amount of money for NSFAS application which in most cases they will not even have because of their impoverished backgrounds.

The department of Education Teacher Training Centres were used for the outreach project Ezingolweni Training Centre under Umziwabantu, Port Shepstone under Ray Nkonyeni, Umthwalume in Umzumbe and Phungashe under Umdoni municipality.
